Capture the Date...in November only!

Welcome to another fantastic SOTM BlogHop featuring 68 super creative Close To My Heart Consultants and November's stamp of the month 'Capture the Date'

If you've arrived here from Kim Schnoor's Blog then you are on the right track and if you're starting here, no worries this is a circular hop, if you've gotten lost somewhere along the way, refer to the complete list of hoppers at the end of this post.....I hope you enjoy all the wonderful creations this month!

Two words...Project Life...that is my resolution starting this week, forget about January 1st or New Years Resolutions (click on the link if you're not familiar with PL)...I have no trouble keeping busy and having fun scrapbooking my photos, but I have always really wanted to start doing Becky Higgins' Project Life and I have finally gone online and ordered special cards, page protectors and albums...BUT if you are thinking of starting some type of 'Project Life' scrapbooking...you CAN do it with stamps, cardstock and papers and CTMH's page protectors just as easily, well maybe not totally easier, but quite beautifully...sorry for the dark'ish photos, took them in my workshop instead of in some bright light outdoors!

Now in preparing for the addition of a"Project Life" concept behind SOME of my scrapbooking, I thought that this month's SOTM set is perfect for some journalling cards and identifying the weeks and dates of events...

Now I just started stamping the journalling frames and adding the Months in different colours and then cut them out...this way when the time comes for me to add them to my page protectors, they will be ready to go!

These are the colours that I used in case you were interested :)

Now for those of you tht are actually reading my post and aren't familiar with 'Project Life', you 'Title' your two page spread with the week you are highlighting so after cutting out the letters for the 'week' I then stamped the week, so I have a record of what 'week 1' of 2013 is going to look like, which is Dec.30th - Jan.5th...and I embellished it with some flowers out of the Flirty paper collection..a little fussy cutting and my 4X6 Title card is ready to go for 2013!

I'm super excited to start this different scrapbooking experience and hope to be able to share it with all of you as I go...I might even play with 2012 to get warmed up for January!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Now off you go to Terry Ann Diack's Blog to see what she's created with this super versatile stamp set too!

Here's a full list of hoppers in case you get lost along the way!

thinking of you...

It's been such a crazy month! I have to say that doing home renos and planning parties and just everyday stuff at home are really starting to be a little overwhelming! Luckily we are at the end of the deck reno and the party is over...Friday was fun and stressful as the power went out the entire time!!! It was some great ambience for a Halloween party, but really inconvenient to offer appetizers when I'm only able to do them on the barbeque! Luckily the guests still had fun and I've got two stressful activities off my list :)

So, earlier in the month I had hopes to work with some other Let's Scrap gals and get some LOAD projects done (layout a day) with the hopes of achieving at least 31 ! Seeing as it is currently the 29th and I've only just completed 10 before this card...I am going to spend the next two days trying really hard to complete more than 11 :)

This sketch was from earlier in October and I combined a great  challenge from Scrapbook Challenges this month as well.

The challenge was to combine at least 5 different patterned papers together in one card...this was 6 different patterns as well as the bird houses which was cut from another piece of patterned paper...

Here's the Let's Scrap card sketch:

Make sure you have a look at all the great challenges over at Scrapbook Challenges, especially if you need a little help getting things done...challenges are usually just what you need to get the mojo flowing!

Seeing the World Together

We are fortunate in this lifetime, if we have a great friend, someone that knows us, good and bad...someone who you can always talk to day or night...someone that will meet you for ice cream at 10:30 at night or share a bowl of Taco chips and salsa and not judge!

Olivia, my oldest daughter has many close friends, but none that compare to her close friendship with Madison...they are both so lucky to have this special bond and to have been able to travel so much together! I hope they always cherish the times they've spent together and that they have many more years of creating such wonderful memories with each other!

I loved this sketch as it really gave me a great backdrop for these photos and it's nice for a change to feature one large photo on your scrapbook pages :)

I'm not sure what I would do without my American Crafts Thickers or any of my numerous mini alphabet letters! They make my title far more interesting and when you use your mini-alphas, you can really almost 'journal' through your title...love these!

This week's sketch was brought to Let's Scrap from the one and only Becky Fleck of Pagemaps! Super awesome lady and one of her fantastic sketches as are all of them!

Thanks so much for taking time out of your day to read along and stop by here!

Paris by Foot

I'm back again with some more Paris photos from my daughter's trip and I have to say that working with this Making Memories travel line from several years ago is really working for these photos!

My post yesterday was a layout using mostly Basic Grey's new line and it works perfectly with this Making Memories older line...I've been saving this paper and LOADS of embellishments since BEFORE Olivia went to Paris...yeah, I know crazy hoarding and shopping issues, but hey...look how it all came together now!??

One day I'll get there, but in the meantime, I'll just live vicariously through my daughter :) The group did A LOT OF WALKING...like Olivia said, pretty much everywhere!

While I was away at BC Crop for Kids a couple weeks ago, a lovely lady at the end of my table let me have some of her old stamps stickers...I used them here and on my other layouts from that weekend, so grateful to my scrapbooking sisters out there that have no problem sharing their stuff...this is the world of scrapbookers, we are so generous with our craft!

I worked with last weeks sketch at Let's Scrap...it was provided to us from Valerie Salmon at got sketch? Nice and simple lines and lots of photos...great sketch!

Thanks for stopping in today...see you back here soon!

Paris in Springtime

Olivia went to Paris with her school in Grade 11 which was about 20 months ago! I haven't scrapbooked any of her photos until last weekend at all but I think I felt the desire to start working on them seeing as my Mother is currently in Paris with her girlfriend!

She decided, upon her daughter's suggestion (that's me!) to start a daily blogging journal for those of us stuck at home, so we can keep up on her adventures and see some of the sights she is seeing while she's still there! I like that my Mother is also posting photos of what they are eating and describing it all in great detail...wonderful idea to blog your trip even for your own benefit!

Anyways, this layout is using some fantastic papers and embellies from Basic Grey and odd bits from Making Memories...I love the peaceful feeling I get when I look at this photo that Olivia took on her visit to Paris, wish I was there!

Great chipboard embellies from BG, made putting this layout together fast and easy!

Here's last weeks sketch#316 from Scrapbook Challenges, I've used the single page but I've also included the double page layout below.

Now I've used the double page layout sketch#317 from this week at Scrapbook Challenges and started in theory but then went off on my own! I like that sketches are always a great starting point, but often we just get going on our own after that!

More Basic Grey papers and Bazzill cardstock

Using up the last of my Close To My Heart folded ribbon, love this stuff!

Purchasing some of the embellies that coordinate with your papers is always a great idea as it makes it short work creating a layout when you aren't hunting around for those embellies to match!

I've used up some scrap airplane ribbon from Making Memories, love that ribbon!

The double and single sketches from Scrapbook Challenges this week!

I hope you are having a fantastic week and thanks for stopping in here :)

I'm off to BC Crop 4 Kids...

Instructions written (should've started that task a couple weeks ago!) and copied (phew)...kits all cut and packed (phew) and I might even get some sleep in before I go...or not!

I am just remembering that I should pack some stuff to do while I'm there too...I would like to do some scrapbooking myself, even though I'm super excited and nervous about my two classes...I always think I like my layouts but it is also always a little scary wondering how everyone else will like them!??

I am super duper excited to be staying at the hotel, even though I live close and of course, getting to stay up late, chit chat with my scrappy sisters and create!

Here's some sneak peeks of my Close To My Heart class on Sunday...I'm so glad I got my wooden shapes when I did as we sold out of them and they aren't being reordered!

lots of fun bright colours in these Footloose papers...they were definitely my favourite papers of this summer!

I have two other layouts, a single and a double that I still have to take photos of! I forgot to take one of the Bonus single I created from the left over bits...and a couple hours ago, I decided to make some changes to another layout that I wasn't 100% pleased with...so an extra hour or two of Cricut cutting and re-stuffing kits (no problem) and at approximately 4:00AM, Friday, I think I'll get a couple hours of sleep and then pack some stuff for me to work on for when I'm not teaching classes :)

countdown to classes @ BC Crop 4 Kids...

Today I want to show you some photos of the class I will be teaching on Saturday, October 6th from 10:00am - 12:00pm for this fantastic Fundraising Crop which benefits BC Children's Hospital...it's called BC Scrapbooking Crop for Kids and it is so much fun!

This class is being sponsored by Bryan Heidinger and he's the Owner of a great Scrapbook shop in Downtown Abbotsford called Paper Nation!

I have created two double-paged layouts and two single paged layouts using a My Mind's Eye collection called 'Indie Chic' which came in some fantastic colours!

this kit includes a FULL package of American Crafts Thickers

also, a FULL package of MME decorative brads

a FULL package of MME decorative buttons and various journalling spots and die cut bits...

I've even cut some felt bits and die cut shapes for us to create our own handmade embellishments...

I love this Jute twine...such a great texture to add here...

and remember those corner rounders, circle punches and scallop punches? well we are bringing them back here and I'll show you WHY these are the best 'staple' tools in your stash!

If you're coming this weekend, I'll see you there...if you've only got a few hours to spare...have a look at this years classes and just come on down to the Ramada and sign up for one of them! They are taking late sign ups all the way until the classes start, unless they are sold out of course! Which is our goal seeing as 100% of that class fee is going directly to BC Children's Hospital!

Thanks for stopping by!

more with this month's Very Merry Christmas!

I know, you might not be in the Christmas mood yet...but this October you can get a great Christmas'y stamp set for only $5.00! It is the perfect addition to your stamping collection because you can use it for layouts, cards and you can make some gift tags too!

It's easy, with any order you place of a minimum of $35 in the month of October, you can get this set for $5 !

I have created a great card today using a 6x6 Kraft card base, our new Pear & Partridge Christmas paper, Cranberry & Colonial White cardstock, our new Burlap ribbon and some Cranberry baker's Twine from our Harvest Baker's twine collection:

I started with our pre-done 6x6 card bases and I've scored it at 1½ inches on either side of the center fold:

Then I folded along the score lines so that the center fold comes into the middle of the card...add some heavy duty double sided tape JUST along the outer edge of the card as pictured above:

I trimmed an opening along the folded edge so that I could slip my Gift Card into the slot...this is why I was careful not to add adhesive too close to the fold as I wouldn't have been able to slide in my card!

I adhered the Burlap ribbon along that scalloped edge of this card base, mounted the sentiment with 3D foam tape and then after I put my gift card into my card, I wrapped some of that great twine around the card twice and tied a bow...this way the person I give this to can just untie the twine and the sentiment will still be attached to my card!

Thanks for stopping in today and if you have any questions about my card, the products I've used or this month's stamp set, please contact me!
