Circles and more circles...

Hello! So glad you've stopped by today!

I have a sketch from Let's Scrap this week and I've interpreted it quite differently...
Now firstly I've created a single page, I seem to be creating a lot of those these days...not sure if the tide is shifting with the double page layouts or if I'm just needing a change...

The funny thing about these photos is that it was a few days before we left on Christmas holidays and I usually get my BFF, Tania, a gift and Jaime usually buys her hubby, Rob, a gift...he thought it would be funny to buy Tania a giant wedge of Parmesan cheese from an Italian Deli in town and wrap it up inside a big box full of popcorn?!!!
Strange, yes...but also funny ;)

I LOVE this Basic Grey paper collection, 'Paper Cottage' and the sticker sheet that came with it was a great addition...

even found some of those Martha Stewart doilies and threw that in there too!

Would love to see what you can do with this sketch too! Head on over to Let's Scrap and set up a profile so you can share your work or just search the gallery and see what others have done with this week's sketch! It's a great site and full of super supportive folks from all over the world! let me know how you make out :)

Can't get enough challenges???

I know, there are more challenges to spark your creativity than there are hours in the day! Let alone time with which to do them all....but I'm going to share one with you all anyways!!!

It's my turn over at Scrapbook Challenges to host the February Altered Challenge...I am not a 3D or Home Decor kinda Krafty Gal...but I did look at this challenge from a recycled/repurposed angle.

Our theme this month is Relationships, and my spin on it was our relationship with Mother Earth...so I took a cardboard box, some scrapbooking embellishment packaging and a bottle cap off the cider I drank the other day...and used each of these three items in my layout! Strange I know, but effective and I like how it all came together!

(Remember to click on each image for an enlarged view)

I found an old typewriter in our local thrift store, it worked, so I grabbed it...it's not super pretty but it is fun to use for journalling...even if there's no erase key working...lots of mis-typed bits adds to the character...right!???

I also had fun pulling out some of my stamps...they've been neglected lately so it was nice to take the time to try to incorporate them into a layout, I have to remember to do that more often as I was happy with them once I did!

Make sure to check out my challenge on the Scrapbook Challenges Blog if you want to see some great sketches or see what other challenges are going on this month...there is always some great prizes up for grabs for those that participate so have fun!!!

I hope this challenge sparks some creativity in you, thanks for stopping by :)

My Sketch!!!

Good Morning! I am super excited to share my sketch which is being featured this week at Scrapbook Challenges!!!

My version of the sketch that I sent Chanell at SBC wasn't nearly as nice looking as this one above...it was just a challenge we had in December to look at an Ad and create a sketch from it! Here's the Ad I was looking at:

I wanted to create another one with this sketch as I actually really like it! No bias at all :)

One of the great things about patterned papers that have fun designs on them is that you can fussy cut them out to create embellishments!

and of course those sticker sheets certainly come in handy for ready to go sentiments and journalling spots...made this layout come together very fast and everything matches...

I love that I'm really digging into my alphabet stickers these days...I didn't have enough letters to do it all in any of these three but mixing up my title has a better feel to it I think than if I'd used all the same colours. It draws your eye to the title...

and here's the layout, which you would have seen back at the beginning of December:

Same basic design but completely different looking!

So glad you stopped in today, thanks for visiting and I hope you have a chance to play with this sketch soon!

GIANT banners!

Hello Again!

I've got another fantastic sketch for you to get busy with! This time it's from Let's Scrap!

I love the GIANT banners!!! Another great way to showcase different busy patterned papers or maybe a rainbow of colours...you could definitley finish off some of those kits you have...I cut the strips about 2½" wide and using a 12" length, trim out your banner ends! Super simple, super fast and super great looking!!!

I only took a handful of photos of Oliver playing with this bottle cap...in the end I had only printed out six so I decided to take the scraps of each 4x6 photo and trim out the patio for the other two photo spots...my photos are 2x2 and then I cut out 2¼x2¼ white printer paper to mat them on...I've used the small corner rounder on the photos to make them look like little Instagram photos...

If you can believe it, these photos were taken with my iPhone!!! I still can't find my Nikon battery charger!!! Super frustrating but I am learning to take some great photos with my iPhone in the meantime...isn't this Macro shot great!???

This layout felt like it needed some more texture so I went a little crazy with the sewing machine...stitching and boys seem to go together in my mind...

I've decided to try to use up the rest of my February Bonus Kit from the Memory Workshop...I have to say that I seldom actually use all of any kit up, but I wanted to make a point of creating with this one until it was all gone!!! My sticker sheet is looking pretty bare and I actually used some of the flowers...not a giant fan of flowers so this was a stretch!

It just so happens to be the perfect colours for my newest family addition, Oliver!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop in here today, I love having visitors and hearing from you in my comments...let me know if you get creative with this sketch!
I'd love to hear from you :)

Gotta love Doilies...

Hello! Now let me just say right off that I can't find my Nikon battery charger!!! It is very frustrating and in the meantime I've been using my iPhone to take all my layout photos...I am actually amazed at the quality of them, especially the macro shots!

Moving on...

I've got another layout using February's fantastic Bonus Kit from the Memory Workshop...Talk about making short work when you have the sticker sheet and these gorgeous doilies already done for you to just grab and stick down!

When I saw this sketch I just HAD to get these papers...I didn't realize until I opened the kit that there were some great textured papers in there! I LOVE how they add the look of pattern to a solid base!

Now you could sand the surface to get a completely different look, but I was happy with all the blue...the photo doesn't do it justice in this close up, it is truer in colour to the top photo.

I cut the doilies that were being covered up with photos and hanging off the base so that I could use the small bits elsewhere on this layout...I also popped up the lower grey one with 3D foam tape...this is going to be the perfect layout for the first page of our Hawaii 2012 holiday album!

Here's this week's Scrapbook Challenges sketch!

Thanks so much for popping in today, I hope you have fun with this sketch! Make sure you stop over at the Memory Workshop site to check out all of Sandra's great kits or to learn more about her Monthly Kit Clubs!

got Dirt?

Hello!!! Super fun sketch here today! Scrapbook Challenges has released their Monday sketch and if you have tags, this one will take you all of a couple minutes to construct...

I got this 'Portfolio' Pink Paislee collection from Sandra @ the Memory Workshop a while ago because I'm in love with the papers and the colours and all the doodads that they produced to go with it! and the wooden bits are from CTMH's new wooden asst.

I don't know about you, but I've got quite a collection of metal bits that I seldom remember to go into...however today I remembered that I had all these cute doggy type metal bits...so I found them and used them :)

My dogs LOVE to go outside and run around, fetch and chase anything! They also love to get dirty! So taking photos of them all messy was quite easy for the two Yorkies...my wee little Cavalier hasn't yet mastered the messy...give him time!

Love these new wooden shapes by CTMH!! Might need to re-order!

Here's the single pager this week...come on you double-page Divas...give it a try, you might like it ;)
